(PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION
THE 46TH INFANTRY
(PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION TRACES ITS HUMBLE BEGINNING FROM THE LAND OF PROMISE
DURING THE UPGRADING OF THE THEN 12TH INFANTRY BRIGADE (SEPARATE)
INTO NOW THE REGULAR 6TH INFANTRY (KAMPILAN) DIVISION ON 24 OCTOBER
1987. THE 46TH INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION WAS ONE OF ITS
PIONEER BATTALIONS.
IN THE EARLY 90’S, WHEN HIGHER HEADQUARTERS SAW THE
URGENT NEED TO CREATE A UNIT PURPOSELY TO DEVELOP, ORGANIZE, TRAIN AND PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE COMMAND AND CONTROL TO
CAFGU ACTIVE AUXILIARIES AS THE IMMEDIATE RESIDUAL RESULT OF THE SUCCESSFUL
INITIAL CAMPAIGN OF “LAMBAT BITAG”, THE CONVERSION OF THE 46TH
INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION INTO 12TH SPECIAL FORCES BATTALION
OF THE SPECIAL FORCES REGIMENT (AIRBORNE) TOOK EFFECT ON 01 JANUARY 1992.
PURSUANT TO SECTION I AND II OF
GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 146 HEADQUARTERS PHILIPPINE ARMY DATED 06 MARCH 2003, THE 46TH INFANTRY
(PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION WAS ACTIVATED AND REFILLED, AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY PLACED
ASSIGNED TO THE 8TH INFANTRY DIVISION, PHILIPPINE ARMY. EFFECTIVE 01
APRIL 2003, THE REBORNED UNIT OFFICIALLY BECAME ORGANIC UNIT OF THE 8TH
INFANTRY (STORM TROOPERS) DIVISION. ALL ITS PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT CAME FROM
THE EXISTING RESOURCES OF THE DIVISION.
FROM 01 APRIL TO 21 AUGUST 2003, MAJOR FEDERICO SP OLIVA
(CAV) PA WAS THE OFFICER-IN-CHARGE OF THE BATTALION. WITH HIM WERE SIX (6) OFFICERS, NAMELY: ILT
JONATHAN C URSAL (INF) PA, 2LT EUGENE M MUYCO (INF) PA, 2LT JOEL P BALAGOT
(INF) PA, 2LT ROMEO L ANDRES (INF) PA, 2LT RUBY B DELLANO (INF) PA AND 2LT
ROBERTO T MORALLOS (INF) PA AND TWO-HUNDRED (200) ENLISTED PERSONNEL.
ON 21 APRIL 2003, FROM HEADQUARTERS, 8TH
INFANTRY (STORM TROOPERS) DIVISION, CAMP LUKBAN CATBALOGAN, SAMAR, THE 46TH
INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION MOVED TO SITIO CANTABA, BRGY CATICUGAN, STA
RITA, SAMAR . ON 16 JUNE 2003, ONE HUNDRED
TWENTY-TWO (122) GRADUATES OF CANDIDATE SOLDIERS COURSE (CSC) CLASS 51 WERE
ASSIGNED TO THE BATTALION. FROM 16 JULY
TO 20 AUGUST 2003, THE BATTALION UNDERWENT ONE (1) MONTH ORGANIZATIONAL AND
COMBAT READINESS TRAINING.
ON 21 AUGUST 2003, LIEUTENANT COLONEL MANUEL FELINO V
RAMOS GSC (CAV) PA, TOOK OVER AS THE FIRST BATTALION COMMANDER. THE BATTALION
RECEIVED ITS FIRST MARCHING ORDER ON 10 OCTBER 2003 –TO CLEAR THE AFFECTED
BARANGAYS OF CARIGARA, LEYTE FROM CPP/NPA/NDF
INFLUENCE.
FOLLOWING THIS MARCHING ORDER, ON 15 OCTOBER 2003, THE
BATTALION MOVED FROM SITIO CANTABA, BRGY CATICUGAN, STA RITA, SAMAR TO BRGY
MACALPI, CARIGARA, LEYTE AND WAS PLACED OPCON TO 802ND INFANTRY
BRIGADE, 8ID,PA. ON 21 FEBRUARY 2004,
THE UNIT UNDERWENT THE BATTALION RE-TRAINING AND ENDED ON 29 FEBRUARY 2004.
AFTER FIVE (5) MONTHS AND FIFTEEN (15) DAYS OF STAY AT
BRGY MACALPI, CARIGARA, LEYTE, THE UNIT WAS RELOCATED AT BRGY LUNETA, LA PAZ,
LEYTE ON 01 APRIL 2004 TO CONTINUE INTERNAL SECURITY OPERATION (ISO). WHILE AT
SAID PLACE, THE UNIT UNDERWENT THE BATTALION ORIENTATION TRAINING FROM 02-16
JUNE 2004.
ON 05 AUGUST 2004, THE UNIT MOVED AGAIN FROM PRESENT
LOCATION TO BRGY BALANTE, BASEY, SAMAR TO
CONDUCT INTERNAL SECURITY OPERATION (ISO) AS MAIN EFFORT (ME) OF 801ST
INF BDE, 8ID, PA.
FOR JUST TWO (2)
MONTHS AT BRGY BALANTE, BASEY, SAMAR, THE UNIT, AS THE 8ID AND CENCOM RDF
BATTALION, WAS TASKED TO MOVE FROM SAMAR
ISLAND TO BOHOL .
ON 04 OCTOBER 2004, THE 46TH INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION MOVED
FROM SAMAR ISLAND, ON BOARD A C-130 AT TACLOBAN CITY AIRPORT (LEYTE), LANDED IN
TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL AND TEMPORARILY HOUSED ITS PERSONNEL AT CAMP DAGOHOY,
ARESCOM, PA, TAGBILARAN CITY. THE 46TH
INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION WAS PLACED OPCON TO 302ND INF
(ACHIEVER) BDE, 3ID, PA AND REPLACED THE 6TH SPECIAL FORCES
BATTALION TO CONFRONT THE INSURGENCY PROBLEM IN THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF BOHOL PROVINCE .
AFTER EIGHT
MONTHS OF SUCCESSFUL INSURGENCY CAMPAIGN IN THE ISLAND
OF BOHOL , THE 46TH INFANTRY
(PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION WAS AGAIN TASKED TO RETURN TO THE 8TH INF
(STORM TROOPER) DIV , PA AOR.
ON BOARD TWO (2) NAVAL VESSELS, THE 46TH INFANTRY
(PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION LEFT BOHOL
ISLAND ON 15 JUNE
2005. ON 17 JUNE 2005, THE UNIT DOCKED
AT THE PORT OF CATBALOGAN ,
SAMAR AND WAS RECEIVED BY NO LESS THAN THE

THE UNIT LAUNCHED ITS FIRST BATTALION OPERATIONS AT PARANAS-MOTIONG-SAN JOSE DE
BUAN COMPLEX, SAMAR . AFTER THE OPERATION, THE UNIT MOVED FROM
H8ID TO BASEY, SAMAR AND ESTABLISHED ITS HEADQUARTERS AT BRGY BALANTE, BASEY, SAMAR .
ON 19 AUGUST
2005, LTC COLONEL MANUEL FELINO V RAMOS GSC (CAV) PA WAS REPLACED AS BATTALION
COMMANDER BY LTC ARTURO S PASCUA INF (GSC) PA
ON 02-05 JULY
2006, THE 46TH INFANTRY (PEACEMAKERS) BATTALION WAS RELIEVED IN PLACE BY THE

TO HEADQUARTERS 8TH INFANTRY DIVISION, PHILIPPINE ARMY TO UNDERGO BATTALION RE-TRAINING
FOR THREE (3) MONTHS FROM 09 JULY TO OCTOBER 2006.
ON 12 JULY 2006, A
PARADE AND REVIEW WAS CONDUCTED TO OPEN THE BATTALION RE-TRAINING AND SUBSEQUENTLY
THE TURN-OVER CEREMONY OF LTC ARTURO S PASCUA INF (GSC) PA AND LTC LUIS VINCENT
A TACDERAS INF (GSC) PA AS BATTALION COMMANDER PRESIDED BY THE DIVISION
COMMANDER, MGEN BONIFACIO RAMOS AFP.
AFTER ALMOST
THREE (3) MONTHS OF CONDUCTING SECURITY AND CHECKPOINT OPERATIONS IN THE PROVINCE OF CEBU ,
THE UNIT SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED ITS MISSION
AND WAS INSTRUMENTAL TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ASEAN SUMMIT . ON 17 JANUARY 2007, CENTRAL COMMAND
GAVE A SEND-OFF CEREMONY TO THE UNIT HELD AT NAVAL FORCES CENTRAL PRESIDED BY
CENTRAL COMMAND COMMANDER, LTGEN CARDOZO M LUNA JR AFP PRIOR TO ITS
REDEPLOYMENT BACK TO SAMAR
ISLAND .
AFTER TWO (2)
DAYS TRAVEL AT SEA ON BOARD A NAVY VESSEL, THE UNIT ARRIVE AT TACLOBAN CITY PORT ON
19 JANUARY 2007. A WELCOME CEREMONY WAS ACCORDED
TO THE UNIT BY 801ST INFANTRY BRIGADE PRESIDED BY COLONEL FRANCISCO
LANUZA INF (GSC) PA, BRIGADE COMMANDER. THE
BATTALION TEMPORARILY ESTABLISHED ITS MAIN COMMAND POST AT 52ND CADRE
BATTALION HEADQUARTERS AT SITIO CANTABA, BRGY CATICUGAN, STA RITA, SAMAR WHILE WAITING FOR ITS NEW AREA OF OPERATION.
WITH THE ISSUANCE
OF HQS 8ID GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 205 DATED 15 FEBRUARY 2007, A REALIGNMENT OF
FORCES AND AREAS OF OPERATION WERE INITIATED BY THE DIVISION, THUS, THE UNIT RELIEVED
34TH INFANTRY BATTALION IN ITS AREA OF OPERATION AND WAS PLACED UNDER THE
OPERATIONAL CONTROL OF 803RD INFANTRY (PEACE MAKER) BRIGADE. ON 23
FEBRUARY 2007, THE UNIT ESTABLISHED ITS MAIN COMMAND POST AT BRGY ERENAS, SAN
JORGE, SAMAR. THE UNIT COVERS ONE (1) CITY, TEN (10) MAINLAND MUNICIPALITIES,
AND FIVE (5) ISLAND TOWNS WITHIN ITS NEW AREA OF OPERATION IN THE CONDUCT OF
INTERNAL SECURITY OPERATION.
ON THE CONDUCT OF THE NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTION LAST 14 MAY 2007 AND
BARANGAY & SK ELCTION LAST 29 OCTOBER 2007, THE UNIT WAS DEPUTIZED BY THE
COMELEC TO PROVIDE SECURITY ASSISTANCE IN THE FAR FLUNG BARANGAYS WITHIN ITS
AREA OF OPERATION BEING CONSIDERED AS “AREAS OF CONCERN“ IN SAMAR. THE UNIT
SHIFTED ITS FOCUS IN COMPLIANCE TO THE GIVEN COMELEC DIRECTIVE AND MANAGE ITS PERSONNEL BY
DEPLOYING A SIZEABLE FORCE TO IDENTIFIED MUNICIPALITIES SO AS TO PROTECT THE
RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE TO SUFFRAGE. THE ELECTION WENT ON SMOOTHLY WITH THE UNIT
ACCOMPLISHING ITS GIVEN TASK.
ON 31 OCTOBER
2007, LTC LUIS VINCENT A TACDERAS INF (GSC) PA WAS REPLACED AS BATTALION
COMMANDER BY LTC BONIFACIO B CEBRIAN JR MI (GSC) PA.
MISSION AFTER MISSION, THE UNIT ACCOMPLISHED ITS GIVEN TASK. AGAIN, THE
BATTALION RE-FOCUSES ON THE CONDUCT OF ISO IN ITS AREA OF OPERATIONS
CONCENTRATING ITS EFFORT IN REDUCING THE CAPABILITIES OF GUERILLA FRONTS WITHIN THIS AO BY THE YEAR END OF 2008.
