SYMBOL:

Pentagon – represents the Philippine Army as the regiment’s mother unit. It likewise symbolizes the shield that will protect and defend the country at all time.
the Three (3) Stars - represents the three (3) island groups of our motherland, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The claws of the artillery cover the whole Philippine archipelago.
Spearhead Pointing Upward – represents the old weaponry of our forebears. The warrior spirit of every Filipino soldier oozes in our blood. It symbolizes gallantry in times of war and the selfless rendition of full military service to preserve the sovereignty of our country. It is pointed upward to stress the ultimate goal of the artillery branch towards modernization and to be at par with modern armies of today.
Gold Cannon – represents the artillery weapon and symbolizes the noblest of branches in the army, the Artillery. It further symbolizes the indirect fire support that the unit provides to the troops in the frontlines.

and the number 8 figure represent the numerical designation of the 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army as well as the numerical designation of region VIII (Eastern Visayas) in which our unit was supported.

Colors:
Red – symbolizes courage in all undertakings.
Golden Yellow – symbolizes royalty as paralleled to the artillery branch.
Black – symbolizes death for the enemy.

CHANGES IN ORGANIZATION:

15 Sep 80 – 9FAB, was activated under 3FAR, 3ID, PA and filled-up pursuant to section i, GO 141 H3ID, PA dtd 11 Sep 80.
01 Oct 84 – De-activation of its mother unit (3FAR) and 9FAB was subsequently reassigned to 3ID, PA eff 01 Oct 84.
16 Jun 86 – 9FAB, 3ID, PA was absorbed by 8th Infantry Brigade (Separate), PA pursuant to GO 124, HPA dtd 29 Jun 86.
01 Jul 86 – 9FAB was renamed 8th Field Artillery Battalion pursuant to GO 143, HPA dtd 10 Jun 86.
01 Apr 02 – Saluting battery stationed at Hqs, Central Command, Camp Lapu-lapu, Cebu City was activated into a regular battery and designated as “delta” battery.
16 Jun 07 – Army Artillery Regiment (P) was deactivated and subsequently 8FAB was down graded to 8th FABtry (Separate) pursuant to GO 296 HPA dated 16 June 2007.


CHANGES IN STATION:

16 Jan 81 – 9FAB, 3ID, PA established its headquarters at Camp Delgado, Catarman, Northern Samar and not long after, moved to nearby Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, NSamar to provide artillery fire support to 3/3rd Infantry Brigade, 3ID, PA while its “A” Btry established its Battery Headquarters at Brgy Bagacay, Hinabangan, Samar.

14 Feb 82 – “A” Btry displaced from Brgy Bagacay, Hinabangan, Samar and established fire base at San Isidro, Las Navas, NSamar.

16 Jun 86 – 9FAB, 3ID, PA stationed at Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, Northern Samar was absorbed by 8th Infantry Brigade (Separate), PA.

14 Mar 87– “C” Btry with four (4) tubes displaced from Brgy Santol, San Miguel, Leyte and established firebase at Brgy Bagolibas, Sta Rita, Samar as direct support to 20IB.

19 Mar 87 – “B” Btry left Catarman, Northern Samar and established its hqs at Brgy Cansolabao, Hinabangan, Samar as direct support to 2/8th Infantry Brigade (S), PA.

03 Oct 87 – 8FAB transferred its bn hqs from Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, Northern Samar to Camp Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar while “A” Btry left Brgy Rawis, Laoang, Northern Samar and transferred its hqs at Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, NSamar as direct
support to 3/3rd Infantry Brigade.

13 Sep 88 – “C” Btry left Brgy Bagolibas, Sta Rita, Samar and proceeded to Sogod, Southern Leyte as direct support to 803rd Infantry Brigade.

23 Mar 90 – “C” Btry left Sogod, Southern Leyte and transferred its hqs at Brgy Cantaba, Sta Rita, Samar.

22 Nov 91 – 8FAB was transferred from Camp Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar to Brgy Parasanon, Pinabacdao, Samar to occupy the AOR of the defunct 8th Provisional Coy, 8ID, PA performing fire support mission and combat operations.

12 Jul 92 – “B” btry transferred its btry hqs to Brgy Polangi, Taft, Eastern Samar as direct support to 802nd Infantry Brigade.

22 Jun 93 – 8FAB transferred its hqs to Camp Daza, Brgy Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar.

15 Jun 94 – “A” Btry was pulled-out from Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, NSamar and transferred its hqs to PPC Compound, Brgy Bagacay, Hinabangan, Samar as strike force of the battalion and controlling unit of CAFGU patrol bases in the AOR.

09 May 98 – “A” Btry was displaced from its location and merged with the H8FAB at Camp Daza, Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar.

20 May 98 – “C” Btry, was tasked to provide direct support to 803rd Infantry Brigade and moved from Brgy Caticugan, Sta Rita, Samar to Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, NSamar and occupied the vacated AOR of the defunct 801st Infantry Brigade.

17 Jun 99 – 3rd pltn, “B” Btry displaced at Brgy Malinao, Mahaplag, Leyte and months after established fire base at Brgy Hibod-hibod, Sogod, Southern Leyte as direct support to 43IB.

20 May 00 – “B” Btry with six (6) 105mm howitzers stationed at Brgy Polangi, Taft, ESamar was deployed to Mindanao and established fire base at Brgy Nanagun, Lumbayan-ague, Lanao del Sur as direct support to 802nd bde.

15 Oct 00 – “B” Btry moved along with 802nd bde from Lanao del Sur to Bancasi, Butuan City.

24 Dec 00 – Advance party of “B” Btry with 802nd bde arrived at Camp Daza, Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar from Bancasi, Butuan city.

23 Jan 01 – “B” Btry personnel with six (6) 105mm Howitzers arrived at Camp Daza, Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar from Bbancasi, Butuan City.

09 Mar 01 – “B” Btry displaced Camp Daza, Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar and established fire base at Brgy Calingat-ngan, Borongan, ESamar along with 802nd bde.

20 Aug 01 – “B” Btry displaced Borongan, ESamar and established btry hqs at Caticugan, Sta Rita, Samar.

01 Aug 02 – OPCON of “B” Btry with 802 bde terminated and further placed OPCON with 801 bde.

16 Jun 07- Due to the deactivation of AAR (P), 8FAB was down graded into 8FABtry (Separate) and established headquarters at H8ID, PA at Camp Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar. The 1st Firing pltn is co-located with the 801st bde as direct support at Camp Daza, Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar, the 2nd Firing pltn is co-located with the 802nd bde as direct support at Camp Downes, Ormoc City and the 3rd Firing pltn is co-located with the 803rd bde as direct support at Camp Sumoroy, Catarman, Northern Samar, while the 4th Firing pltn is co-located with the Btry hqs as direct support to the division at Camp Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar.
