THE UNIT WAS CONCEIVED AS THE 8TH MSU OF THE NOW DEFUNCT MSC , PA
ON 01 APRIL 1984. IT FIRST HELD OFFICE
IN A RENTED SAFEHOUSE IN TACLOBAN
CITY WITH THREE (3)
OFFICERS, TWENTY EIGHT (28) ENLISTED
PERSONNEL AND ONE (1) CIVILIAN
EMPLOYEE WHO WERE THINLY SPREAD IN THE ENTIRE REGION VIII AS ITS AOR.
AFTER THE 1986 EDSA
REVOLUTION, THE UNIT WAS RENAMED INTO 8TH GOTICO PURSUANT TO GENERAL
ORDERS NR 23, HPA DATED 14 MARCH 1986 SIMULTANEOUS WITH THE RENAMING OF MSC
INTO GOTIB, PA PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NR 80, HPA DATED 30 APRIL 1986.
ON 01 JUNE 1988 , THE UNIT BECAME THE 8TH
ISU UNDER ISG , PA
PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NR 01, HISG ,
PA DATED 10 JUNE 1988 . ON BOTH CHANGES, HOWEVER, THE UNIT AOR AS
WELL AS ITS MANPOWER AND LOGISTICAL FILL-UP REMAINS UNCHANGED.
ON 15 JANUARY 1990 , THE UNIT WAS ABSORBED
BY THE 8TH INFANTRY DIVISION, PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NR 03, HPA
DATED 02 JANUARY 1990
AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY RENAMED AS THE 65TH MICO AS THE
DIVISION’S INTELLIGENCE ARM UNDER THE FUNCTIONAL SUPERVISION OF G2, 8ID. ON 01 JANUARY 2004 , THE 65MICO WAS DEACTIVATED PURSUANT TO GO
NR 09 HPA DATED 08 JANUARY
2004 AND THE SUBSEQUENT CREATION OF 8TH DIVISION
INTELLIGENCE UNIT. THEN AFTER ABOUT TEN (10) MONTHS, THE PROVISIONAL 8DIU WAS UPGRADED
INTO 8TH MIB EFFECTIVE 01 OCTOBER 2004 PURSUANT TO GO NR 523, HPA DATED 11 OCTOBER 2004 .
